Marketers ban Mercy Johnson

Mercy Johnson is currently the highest paid actress in Nollywood. She charges between N1.8million to N2m to feature in a movie. The others, like Ini and Funke charge between N700k to N1.2million.

For this reason, the actress has been blacklisted by the Nollywood Movie Marketers Association. The ban will not take effect immediately as Mercy has already signed up to do quite a number of movies. She returned on Thursday from a movie location, and will be on the set of another movie from tomorrow, Sunday. She will be traveling out of Nigeria sometime this month and when she returns, will be on another movie set...so she's basically booked till the end of the year.

The idea now is not to ban her after all her current contracts end. So the ban won't take effect until at least January 2014. This is not the first time the movie marketers association will be placing a ban on actors. They did this a few years ago when quite a number of Nollywood actors including Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Noah, RMD, Emeka Ike, Jim Iyke and others were blacklisted.

I have to start acting.

Goldie and Denrele set to launch reality show

Nigerians just love to copy anything from the western world. This reality show thing started in Nigeria with Omotola Jolade Ekehinde.

Jim Iyke has also started filming his own reality show and now its Goldie and Derenle.

Anyway, their reality show is called "TRU FRIENDSHIP".
Guess we should look forward to seeing alot of crazy clothing because this duo are crazy when it comes to fashion. I also assume we might also see Prezzo there.

GOLDIE please do not cry on tv because you seem to love crying.

It could have been YOU

Hello everyone, hope you had a wonderful weekend? Over the weekend I met  a young man (name withheld) and his story gave me goose bumps  so I am going to share this REAL life experience with you.

This man came to Nigeria in April 2012 in search of a prominent man of God because he had certain issues and felt only a miracle could help his situation. On his arrival he booked a room in a hotel close to the church. He attended services conducted in the church but could not see the Pastor due to the large number of people that also wanted to see the Pastor. Afterwards, he decided to walk round the church grounds and while admiring the beautiful edifice he started taking pictures. Then he got a shocker.

He was ARRESTED for taking pictures of the church (warning to picture freaks) there were other people arrested for the same offence. They were taken to the Police station and the Pastor came to see them the next morning. This guy was so excited to see the Pastor since that is why he came to Nigeria. He felt he would be able to clear the air about the Police issue, little did he know he was in bigger trouble.
The Pastor started laying hands on the chest of the boys one after the other after which he said some were thieves , some were innocent but when he got to this guy’s turn….The Pastor said the guy is Boko Haram. *sigh*

His case was transferred to the Police Area command . He explained that he was not muslim and that he does not speak hausa. He also told them that he just came into the country and gave them his hotel address and room number. There they found his international passport and got in touch with his country’s embassy. He was locked up and didn’t allow him to make any call. Even when the embassy sent representative, they were not allowed to talk to him but they were able to see him.

I sincerely thank churches that visit prisons because their labour and care to these prisoners are not in vain. He was lucky to meet members of a prominent church that is involved in prison visitations. According to him, this church gave them food , prayed with them and gave them hope . He rededicated his life to Christ in the prison and on the 22nd November he appeared in court, High Court Ikeja where the presiding Judge (God bless him wherever he is  ) saw that there wasn’t any evidence to pronounce him guilty. The Judge also asked if the Pastor was in court to testify but he wasn’t.  That is how the guy was released oooooooooooooo.
Please this is not fiction o.

Finally my thoughts goes thus

·        *    Be careful of where you go for miracles
·        *    Blackberry freaks and photo freaks be careful because taking pictures are not allowed in some areas
·        *    God is everywhere so pray where you are and he would hear.
·        *  There are thousands of innocent people been locked up, do whatsoever you can to touch their lives

I am rushing off to church to join the Prison ministry. I will appreciate if you post your comments.
This is my longest blog post. Odaabo jare. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

For the UNIPORT boys, we want justice

I am sure you must have read about four University of Port Harcourt students that were killed last week, I didn't post the story because it was too shocking. ( scroll down only if you are strong heart)
the guys that were killed

this is what a friend of theirs said

I saw the pictures and wept so i didn't bother to watch the video but I am talking today because members of that community that was involved in the killing have been arrested. Thanks to the social media that helped make the video and pictures go viral because that is why the government took actions. It's time for us to stop this jungle madness that we call justice.

From all indications these guys are innocent of what they were killed for and even if they stole something, do they have to be killed when we still have the police. Why take a life that you cannot create?

If you witness such around your vicinity please call the police because what happened to this guys could have happened to us or any member of our family. All it takes to get someone killed in Nigeria is to chase someone and shout OLE!!!

Lagos state teachers to join strike

Nigeria Union of Teachers, Lagos State branch, on Thursday said it would join the NUT strike to protest against the non-payment of the 27.5 per cent Teachers Salary Scale by some states.
The state NUT chairman, Mr. Samson Idowu, said although public schools in the state were expected to resume on Monday, teachers in the state would not return to classes.

He explained that the protest against the non- payment 27 per cent TSS was too important to be abandoned and that it was in line with the directive of its national body.
Idowu added that since the strike was in line with the directive of the national body of the union, the state body would not flout it.
The NUT chairman, who spoke to journalists on the telephone after an emergency congress of the union, said the action would be indefinite.
Why can't be teachers paid well so that we can be sure of our standard of education? And members of the house of representative are asking for N7 million extra. Are they better than those that mould our children.
It's a pity how things are handled.
